Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. A School Sign Language Interpreter is needed to support effective communication for students and staff within an educational setting. This role is essential in facilitating inclusive learning by interpreting spoken language into American Sign Language (ASL) and vice versa, ensuring accessibility for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals. Key Responsibilities: Interpret conversations, classroom instruction, and school events from spoken English to ASL and ASL to English Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and staff in various educational and extracurricular settings Attend classes, meetings, and school activities as required, including occasional travel within the school district Collaborate with educators and support personnel to adapt communication methods according to students needs Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional standards and ethical guidelines in all interactions Qualifications and Experience: Proficient in American Sign Language with strong interpreting skills suitable for educational environments Experience working as a sign language interpreter in schools or similar settings is highly preferred Ability to travel to different school locations as required Strong communication, interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity Knowledge of educational terminology and process for deaf/hard-of-hearing students is an advantage Location: Dover, NH local travel required for school assignments This position offers the opportunity to contribute directly to accessible education and student success.
