      Summary of Job Duties:As an integral part of the UAMS Hospitalist Care Team, the APRN/PA works collaboratively with the attending physicians and residents to ensure continuity of care to inpatient patients. The APRN/Pas help plan, implement, and evaluate health care treatments. Daily rounds, a variety of procedures, monitoring patient progress, and providing patient and family education, are part of the wide scope of practice. Inpatient APRN/Pas work closely with case managers and social workers to coordinate patient. The APRN/PA will work as an independent care provider within the hospital inpatient setting. The APRN will answer in-basket, MyChart and patient questions, and work in collaboration with the physician to facilitate patients assigned with MD. The APRN will be responsible for managing care of outpatients post-operatively, answering telephone inquiries and filling prescriptions. The APRN must have a high level of expertise to perform assessments/diagnosis/treatment of actual/potential problems of patients. In addition, inpatient APRN/Pas function as a liaison to bedside nurses and ancillary staff.
      Qualifications:Required
      • Master's Degree in nursing or Physician Assistant
      • Education, special or professional:
      • Acute Care Certification if APRN
      • Experience, length in years and kind:
      • 2 years nursing experience
      • Licensed Registered Nurse in Arkansas; APRN License
      • Must be able to operate all typical nursing equipment essential to performing the job (i.e., scales, procedure equipment, needles, blood pressure equipment, and EKG machines). -
      • Must have normal communication sensory requirement.
      • Ability to comply with CDC Universal Precautions when indicated. -Preferred
        • Nursing experience in the inpatient setting

          • Augmentation - The APN will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.
          • Consummate Professional - The APN will be expected to provide comprehensive health assessments, determine diagnoses, implement treatment plans, prescribe medical treatments and manage health issues for patients in collaboration with the designated physician(s).
          • Collaborator - The APN will work autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of individuals to diagnose and manage patients' health care problems; and will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate.
          • Coordination - The APRN will also coordinate the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate.
          • Customer Service: Interacts with and assists the public in a professional and friendly manner as needed; Demonstrates effective communication skills; communicates accurate and complete information; maintains strict confidentiality when necessary; Demonstrates positive working relationships with co-workers, management team, and ancillary departments; follows the Core Concepts of Patient and Family Centered Care and the Basic Code of Conduct Guidelines; Assist internal and external stakeholders as needed with exceptional customer service.
          • The APRN will extend the patient care and administrative services of the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences physicians.Other duties may be assigned to this position.
            Additional Information: 10% - Maintains required audits for credentialing. Engages in appropriate continuing education programs, maintain mandatory competencies, medical center computer based learning modules, and health monitoring services. 10% - Participates in institutional initiatives and encourages the participation of others. Collaborates in policy and program development, implementation, and evaluation using best practices in delivering quality service. 20% - Coordinates the multidisciplinary care of patients, facilitating all necessary consults, assuring that care is timely and appropriate. Actively engage in service line meetings and take an approach to health care that shapes policies, programs, facility design, and day-to-day interactions 20% - Provides healthcare services to patients which may include: comprehensive care during acute and chronic episodes of injury and illness, follow up care during post-hospital clinic appointments, education and counseling of families, health promotion and prevention, and referral to other health care providers and community resources when appropriate. 20% - Works autonomously, as well as, in collaboration with a variety of disciplines to diagnose and manage health care problems; will serve as a health care resource, interdisciplinary consultant, and patient advocate. Communicates and shares complete and unbiased information, assuring their colleagues receive timely, complete, and accurate information in order make informed decisions..
