EXPERIENCE AS OPERATORS The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
works under the supervision of the Behavioral Health Director and
in close coordination with other clinic personnel. The Psychiatric
Nurse Practitioner provides Behavioral/Medical care to clinic
patients including examination, diagnosis and treatment, with
referral to specialists or hospitals where indicated. Role
Functions: Diagnosing, conducting, and prescribing medications for
patients having psychiatric-mental health problems. Responsible for
providing emergency psychiatric services, physician and
psycho-social examinations of their patients. Developing
appropriate treatment plan and providing effective management of
patient care with proper evaluation. Consulting with patients and
families having multiple and complex disorders; and working in a
collaborative and integrative roles with primary healthcare
providers. Performing invasive procedures. Educating patients on
positive health promoting lifestyle choices and diseases, injury
and illness prevention. Minimum Qualification Education: Master of
Science Degree in Nursing with concentration in Psychiatric Mental
Health Nurse Practitioner required. Experience: Must be licensed as
a Advanced Practice Registered Nurse to practice in the State of
Louisiana, as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
Obtain the medical education required to maintain certification or
licensure. Certification: Mental Health NP In Person and Telehealth
